Well We decided to buy it but guess where it was, Michigan. We booked our flight, motel, and rental car and waited patiently until it was time to go. We left thursday afternoon, our flight was at 3:47pm. So we made sure we got there a little over an hour early. But as we waited in line to check our bags, we realized we had forgotten our drivers license back in Rockport. We called John, who had dropped us off, to come back and pick us back up. I jumped in the drivers seat and with only about 55 minutes to get from the airport back to my shop in Rockport and back we blazed off. We made it with about 2 minutes to spare before they closed the plane and took off. The flight was fine to Houston and then on to Michigan. Our motel was ok and we got a decent nights sleep. We got up, grabbed a cab back to the airport and picked up our rental car to go get to the car lot. We liked the car, bought it and headed home.
It was a nice ride down the side of Lake Michigan

We then ran into major road construction around Gary Indiana and missed our turn, headed up towards Chicago before we realized where we were. We finally got back on track and headed down hwy 57 south. We stopped and spent the night in Salem and left early the next morning. It was a long ride through Illinois and several times we hooked up with a new Corvette and another new car cruising together. It was so weird that we just kept running into them even after stopping to eat ect.
We then crossed the Mississippi.

We kept driving, taking turns, the weather was beautiful the whole way across country.

After leaving Arkansas and crossing into Texas we turned south on hwy 59 to head home. As we started to come into a little area of store we looked ahead and there was the Corvette and the other new car pulling into a gas station, we had not seen them since Missouri so I had to stop and ask them where they had come from and where they were going. They had flown to Ohio and bought the two cars and were driving them all the way back to Austin. We all laughed at the coincidence and said our good bye and as we left the lady asked where we were heading and we said Rockport, She then asked if I had heard of the Port Bay Hunting Club, I laughed and said I used to work there when I was younger, and she said she had been there several time. What a small world.
Well we made it home around 1:35am safely and we are real happy with the car and had a great adventure getting it.
Thanks Jim and Ron at R&J Motors for the good deal and friendly service.
