Jan 14, 2001
John and I Left the Dock by 6:30am, picked up some mullet in the channel going out. Stopped across from carbon black and got 15 Redfish by 11:00am. using cut mullet with a slip cork. The bite was soft and slow and they would drop it the second they felt tension. We also made a drift with pumpkinseed assassins and picked  up 2 nice trout.photo
Jan 20, 2001 King and I Left the dock at 4:30pm and ran out to the flats in front of carbon black and made several drifts throwing pumpkinseed bass assassins and picked up two nice reds and saw quite a few more scattered out in the pot holes. Was home by 6:00pm
Jan 21, 2001 John and I left the dock by 6:30am and got our mullet in the middle of the harbor. Again sat across from the carbon black plant in about 2 ft of water. We got 5 reds over 20" plus a couple of undersized, missed a few and got a 25" trout on cut mullet. No wind, and lots of sun, water was clear.photo
Jan 27, 2001 Left the dock at 7:30am with Capt. Kyle Lafreniere threw soft plastics (Rip Tides)and picked up quite a few nice trout fishing around California Hole and City by the Sea. Not much water and had to run from rain storms all day. Still better than a good day at work!
Jan 28, 2001  Left dock at 8:30am on hangover recovery trip, (wife's birthday Sat. night), with Capt. Aaron Cambers of Ambush Offshore Charters ,(who was with us Sat. night), Picked up some mullet and tried to find a sheltered spot to anchor since the wind was whipping upwards of 25 mph. Sure wish my boat was a little faster, had someone beat me to a spot we ran 15 min to get to and was passed within a hundred yards of where we were going to anchor. Well hangover, wind, lost spots and no fish , but still better than a good day at work.
Feb. 3, 2001 Left the dock with Mike at about 2:00pm got some mullet at the boat ramp and went out to the flats across from Carbon Black plant and picked up 2 nice reds and lost 3. Went back in around 4:00pm. photo
Feb. 4, 2001 Left the dock with John at about 7:30 am, got our mullet at the ramp and went back to the same flats across from City by the Sea. Picked up a 31", 28", 27", 26", 24" Redfish , and a 20" trout on cut and live mullet. We lost over 8 fish and had one other oversized at the boat but the line rubbed on the anchor rope and broke off right under the boat. Went in by 12:00. photo
Feb. 9 2001 Sorry about the delay in posting, I have been working on Capt. Kyle Lafreniere's web page  the past 2 weeks and had posted it to his site.
Feb. 10, 2001 Well we tried to make a Baffin trip by the high winds and cold weather forced a change in plans. Capt. Aaron and I decided to try an area he fishes quite often on the flats by Port Aransas. We launched and tried to take a short cut but we lost too much water the night before and didn't make it. I drug the boat about 50 yards back to water it would float in then decided to cross the open bay to get there. We were greeted with 2 to 3 ft chocolate swells and whitecaps and half way across the bay spun the hub. We managed to idle back to the channel, put the spare on and went home. Lesson learned, I need a jet drive.
Feb. 11, 2001 Today something different, Cal, Mike, and Pete took me to a couple of farm ponds for a day of Bass and Cat fishing. It turned out to be a great day, sunny, cool, and everyone caught some bass. No luck on the cats, we missed a few and left too early (they bite best in the evening) but still a nice change from the weekly routine. Especially after yesterday.
Feb. 17, 2001 Left the dock about 7:00am with Kyle Lafreniere , in his boat, to hunt down some trout on lures. We covered everything from trout bayou to south bay across to con brown and back up the ditch to palm harbor and picked up scattered fish everywhere. Only a couple of 21" reds on Riptide Lures and the rest were mostly 14" to 18" trout.
Feb. 18, 2001 John and I left the dock about 6:30, picked up some mullet and headed to old faithful. It was still cold and blowing and we lost about a foot of water but we still managed to pick a few scattered fish here and there around bird island , california hole, and cummins cut with cut mullet.
Feb. 25, 2001 Left the dock at 7:00am with Kyle Lafreniere for a fun trip across the bay, but again the weather does not cooperate with us and we are forced back to the estes to south bay route in search of reds and trout on lures. We picked up a nice red and trout early then moved to hog island and found a nice drift where we were picking up nice trout some of the new Riptide patterns and colors until another boat decides to pull up anchor as were were nearing the end of our drift and fires up, leaving straight down our drift. After two more tries without any fish we moved on and again picked up scattered fish all the way back to the dock.
Mar 4, 2001 Slow day not much to report lots of casting not much fighting. Saw allot of Reds but they wouldn't eat..
Mar 10, 2001 Left the dock with my partime boss Bob   (Western Fireworks) to try out his new boat. We fished all over estes and california hole to hog island with shrimp and cut mullet with no luck.
Mar 11, 2001 Left the dock with Capt. Aaron Chambers (Ambush Offshore Charters) picked up some mullet in the channel and headed to mud island. We fished the drop offs and cuts and shorelines and picked up 28, 27, 26, 25 inch reds and a 25" trout also threw back several rats and the first couple of keepers before we decided to have a fish fry. Was a rough ride back.photo
March 18, 2001 Well Tito , Rolo, and Jim from Houston came down and as happens most of the time the weather went to S***. We tried to pick up some fish from palm harbor to south bay but with very little luck . They boated a nice drum and sheepshead but neither boat had a redfish. I hope they can make it down on a nice day sometime so we can  prove that we really can catch fish down here.
March 25, 2001 Left the dock with John Bridges Jr. and his son John III. The wind was howling and it was pretty cold so we tried to find an island to tuck in behind and block some of the wind. We ended up behind bird island and little john nailed a nice 26" Redfish on dead shrimp. We then figured club sandwiches at Palm Harbor sounded better than freezing any longer so we headed in. photo
April 18. 2001 Joe and I left the dock about 6:25pm , picked up some mullet and headed to flats around estes. We picked up two nice reds, 25" and 24". and got back by 8:15. photo
April 28 2001 Joe and I left the dock at 6:30am, got some live shrimp and headed to the back
side of mud island, we found some nice reds, 21", 26", and 28" plus 3 nice drum.
We also broke off 6 or so in the shell. We then drifted with gold spoons but
didn't get any more. photo
April 29 2001 John and I left the dock about 6:20am and headed to Mud Island. We had some shrimp, perch, and mullet. We picked up lots of small reds and drum and one small trout plus a fat 28" red we brought home to eat. The weather was great and the water was clear, all in all a good day on the water. photo
May 12 2001 King and I left the dock at about 7:00am, got some mullet and went to the shoreline north of bird island, no luck, not even a bite so we ran over to the klondikes and picked up some  26", 24", 21" redfish and a beautiful 27" trout, Went back the same place the next day and didn't get a fish. photo
Aug. 13 2001 Boats broke, had to fish..photo
Aug. 14, 2001 Boats broke, had to catch some fish. Here is our bass pond trip...photo
Aug. 26, 2001 Went camping on the side of the inter coastal waterway , fished sat night with nothing hitting but I was picked up by Kyle Lafreniere Sun morning and we picked up a nice batch of trout by the wells then went to the flats and picked up some nice Redfish.
Oct. 2, 2001 Well, finally got the computer setup again so I can do my web pages again. Another Birthday (36) and another great trip out in the gulf with Capt. Aaron . Sunday before the waves were 10 to 12 ft tall, today less than 2ft, and beautiful. We got 5 huge Amber Jack at the first stop, then trolled a weed line and picked up a bunch of Dolphin and a Wahoo. Then on to another spot, we picked up 5 sharks, and on the last stop, we grabbed 20 Red Snapper to round out the day. photo
