| October 01, 2003 | Hello, well, I have finally built a new computer and have set it up
for digital pictures and web page design again. I will be updating my fishing
report from now on. |
| October 11, 2003 | Melanie and I left the dock about 7:30 and headed out to get some mullet.
The tide has been awful high lately and it has made getting mullet
very difficult. It took almost and hour, but we managed to get several dozen nice mullet and headed out to our favorite spot across from the Carbon Black Plant and anchored up behind one of the island in about 2 ft of water. We picked a couple of nice reds for dinner that night and headed home to clean and cook them up..photo |
| October 18, 2003 | Melanie and I left the dock about 6:00 am and went to get a batch of
live mullet and head back to the same spot where we were the last
weekend. We started hitting reds in less than 10 minutes and by 11:00am we had caught 7 keeper size reds and about 9 undersize reds from 17 to 19 inches. We got ready to leave and gave a couple of friends a call to come take our place. They got a few reds also before they left. photo |
| October 25, 2003 | Melanie and I left the dock and stopped by our favorite mullet hole
to get some bait. We ran to an area next to some shallow flats as
the tide was dropping where the water was a little deeper than the surrounding flats and found the reds had balled up on the edges, we fished for a couple of hours and got 4 nice Redfish and a 19: Trout. photo |
| November 9, 2003 | Well my buddy Mark just bought a new 21ft Bay Blazer so I offered to
let him follow us out to some of our favorite spots to see how
the boat ran ect. It turned out to be windy cold morning so we stopped by the local bait stand and picked up some mullet, shrimp and mud minnow and headed out. The fishing was slow but we managed to pick up 3 keeper Trout, 1 keeper Redfish, and released about 6 small Trout and 2 rat Reds plus a dogfish, and hardhead. Marks boat ran great, (150 hp Yamaha 4 Stroke) and they had a good time. We left them fishing at two poles across form Palm Harbor and went home to watch the race..photo |
| November 11, 2003 | I took off from work this afternoon and Mark and I snuck out to break in the new boat. We got some mullet and cruised around to show Mark some of our favorite spots. We ended up just off the L reef and caught several nice reds, a good drum and a few undersized reds and trout. It was a great day , on a fantastic boat (21 Blazer Bay) and fresh fish for dinner. photo |
| November 15, 2003 | John, his dad, and I took off from the dock about 7:30am and headed
out to try to get some mullet. It was slim pickings but we finally
managed to scrape up about 2 or 3 dozen mullet and headed to the L reef to try our luck. We didn't get a bite so we made a couple of drifts from the L reef to the Klondikes and picked up a trout and a redfish. We then headed out to Con Brown Flats and threw plastic and picked up a couple more trout before heading to our favorite spot across from the Carbon Black plant and picked up 5 more reds on our cut mullet. Was a long but fun day. photo |
| November 22, 2003 | Hi guys, what can I say about today except it was windy. I took a customer
of mine, Bill, and his son Dave today. We left the dock about
12:00 noon, and I had already got my bait earlier. We went to my little hot spot across from the Carbon Black plant and setup in a nice spot with lots of sand pockets. We chunked out our mullet and picked up 7 nice redfish after resetting the anchor several times and drifting into our spots. It was so windy that the water was getting muddy so we headed over to Lindsay's hole to get out of the wind and picked up a couple of rat reds then called it a day. It was not a bad day but could have been nicer if the wind had been a little lighter, the company was great and the bite was steady, all in all a good day. photo |
| November 30, 2003 | Well today was a true example of Texas weather, Dad and I left the
dock in his boat, ( I am Gel coating and webbing the front deck) and
found our mullet balled up in the channel going out of the harbor, 3 throws and we had 4 dozen or so. Mark, his brother and son followed us out to try the west end of California hole but no luck we all then went down to my hot spot and got 6 nice reds and 5 trout. The weather was topic of discussion though, it was lightly blowing out of the north and sunny when we left it then got cloudy for about 35 minutes then it cleared back up and started blowing out of the south but sunny again. Then the clouds came again and that is how we ended the day. photo |
| . | Hey everyone, I am sorry that I haven't had any reports lately, I have redone the front of the boat, I pulled all the old carpet off and removed the trolling motor bracket. I then reGelcoated and had it webbed. I hope to get back in the water soon, but the holidays and remodeling my trailer have taken precedence lately. Here is a picture of the deck after it was redone. photo |
| December 29, 2003 | John and I cleaned shop today and then left early to try to catch a few fish. We couldn't get many mullet so we only tried a spot or two then tied on plastic and made several drifts and caught a bunch of small trout, it was fun. We didn't keep any so there is no pictures. |
| . | Well that is all for 2003, Was a great year fishing with good friends and in a wonderful place to fish. On to 2004 |
