January 9, 2005 Dad and I left the dock about 8:30 with a couple of quarts of live shrimp and stopped outside of traylor and made a couple of drifts, and picked up a couple of small ones. We then stopped in on rattlesnake and picked up a few small reds just undersized but still fun to fight. We left there and ran to the backside of Mud island and made some drifts with a few more small ones and a couple of keepers. Finally we dropped anchor at the edge of 42nd hole and caught a bunch of small trout and 6 more keepers. We also had a group of dolphins come around and a couple of times they went for the stringer. One time a big one grabbed the trout and it was yanked out of his mouth when it hit the end of stringer. I thought we had lost all of them for a minute. After that they quit biting and we called it a day. photo
February 5, 2005 Well I have met a wonderful lady and asked her to go fishing with me. She says she loves to fish so we headed out and had a fantastic time. We didn't catch much, but mainly went boat riding to show her the area I love to fish. She did catch a couple of small reds and a nice 27". I now have a new fishing partner. photo.
February 26, 2005 Darlene, Devin, Randy and I went out to catch some fish. We got some mullet and headed out to bunns hole, but had no luck. We then ran over to the Klondikes and picked up several small reds and a few keepers. Devin caught his first keeper size redfish. photo.
April 1, 2005 Hello everyone, it has been a tough year so far for me. My boat has been giving me many problems lately. I have had it in he shop and worked on it myself but it is still running rough. I have fished some but very seldom have caught very much lately. I have been moving and getting ready to build my new home so fishing time has been limited and the computer has been down for a while also. I am back up and running and with the time change will be fishing more so the reports should start rolling back to normal again.
April 5, 2005 Well I was asked to run my buddy Toms boat today and take him and his niece and her husband out to catch some fish. It was a very windy day but we headed out anyway. We stopped at Cummins Cut and tried dropping a few mud minnows but didn't get a bite so we headed to South Bay, it was so rough and we didn't get a bite so we didn't stay long. Our next two stops took us to East Shoreline where we finally picked up a nice 27 1/2 incher and some small stuff. We then headed back to Yucca Cut and got a couple of small ones there also. We finally stopped at last chance and picked up 3 more nice reds and called it a day. It was allot of fun. photo
April 10, 2005 My buddy Randy and his wife Emily met Darlene and I at the ramp around noon and we headed out to catch some fish. We made a couple of stops around last chance with no luck then headed to the Klondikes. We anchored and started picking up an occasional fish on the front rod but no other so we pulled up anchor and poled straight out a little and started hitting them on all the rods. We kept 4 nice keepers up to 25 1/2 and broke off about 6 or so on the shell. We also caught close to a dozen smaller reds using shrimp and cut mullet. It was allot of fun but we got back so late and didn't get any pictures. Well next time.
May 21, 2005 My buddy Randy, his wife Emily and I went out to camp for the weekend. We setup camp on one of the cuts on Mud Island and started fishing. Randy and I ran back to Bird Island and picked up some nice reds for dinner. We fished some more that evening with no luck. The next morning we woke up and waded the shorelines for trout. We got a couple but had the dolphins take them off our stringer before we could get them back. It was a beautiful weekend but pretty hot. The food was great and company fantastic. photo.
June 5, 2005 Darlene, Lindsey and I decided to make an offshore run today. The wind was low, and the water was beautiful. We fished around a ship for a while with no luck so we headed over to the Standpipes and picked up two small kings. It was extremely hot and Darlene's first time king fishing so we came in a little early so I wouldn't burn her out the first time. Both fish came in real easy so she didn't get the feel of a smoker, but did have a good time. photo.
September 4, 2005 Darlene, Devin and I took her dad out for a birthday fishing trip. It was a beautiful day, we got some good mullet and started out fishing the outside of Yucca cut and got a couple of nice trout. We then started looking for reds at our usual spots. Bunns hole didn't produce so we headed for our little spot north of Bird Island and picked up several reds. It was a really fun day and a few fish for the table. photo.
October 12, 2005 Randy invited his buddy from Phoenix down and I took them out after work. We got some mullet and headed to bunns hole. We caught fish pretty steady until it was too dark to see your line. It was a fun trip. photo.
October 30, 2005 Darlene and I left the dock early so we could make it back in time for the Cowboys game. We got some mullet and headed to bunns. We landed several nice keepers and a couple of small reds before a guide came trolling past us and anchored about 75 yards over and in front of us. We didn't get another bite so after a little while we decided to go to the Klondikes. We got into them again and kept several more nice sized reds and threw back several others over our limit. It was a day I had been waiting for since we first met. A limit plus. photo.
November 12, 2005 Randy and I went out for an early morning trip. We had good bait, but could not find a keeper. We caught several small ones. We had quite and adventure with a friendly pelican. He came by the boat wanting a snack so we tossed him a mullet. He liked it so much he jumped up on the boat for some more. We fed him for about 10 minutes before he decided to leave. photo.
November 20, 2005 Darlene, Devin, Randy and I headed out to try some Mangrove snapper fishing. We only got a couple but did catch quite a collection of fish. We landed a red, trout, snapper, sheepshead, perch, sandtrout, and some type of rockfish. It was constant action and lots of fun. photo.
December 3, 2005 Darlene, Devin, Allan and I went out to catch some fish. We got some mullet and shrimp and headed north of Bird Island. We fished for a little while and then decided to make a move. Just as we were reeling in the rods the last one bent over. Devin got ahold of it and after a 15 minute battle we finally landed the huge 30" red. It was his first oversized and I had told him we would mount his first over 30. Well he had not forgotten and that was the first thing he said "if it is over 30 we get to mount it right" so it is at the taxidermist. We then went to bunns and got a couple more reds, and a trout. We decided to run over to the Fina docks and try for some snapper and after a battle with many huge perch we finally got 1 snapper. Was a great day on the water. photo.
